We are a third generation family run riding stables, established in 1965 at this address which probably makes us one of the longest running yards in the country and certainly on the island.
Hill farm is set in a beautiful part of the west Wight on the A3054 with a number 7 bus stop directly outside.
We have 39 quality horses and ponies and tailor our rides to suit all abilities from the most experienced through to total beginner (who are kept safe on a leading rein from another horse)from the age of 6 years, our weight limit is 16 stone. We are lucky enough to hack out in some of the most beautiful countryside on the island with spectacular scenery from Tennyson down, the second highest point on the island, or along the river Yar and through Golden Hill country park. We also offer beach rides with deep paddling in the waters of Colwell Bay, though not in peak season as the bay is too crowded for horses whether walking, trotting or cantering.
We have a rubber surfaced enclosed manege for lessons from the youngest riders from the age of 4 years and upwards to the more advanced riders wanting to hone their skills in schooling and flat work through to jumping lessons.
We offer Cross Country lessons on our traditional course with over 50 fences of varying heights from 18"-3'3" when the going is good.
Led Pony Rides on horses or ponies around the farm are available from the age of two years and upwards, and are available every day.
We also hold childrens birthday parties in the manege, and take out groups of riders including hen parties and stag parties. Children's fun days and Own a Pony days are held throughout the week during the holidays.
