This is the site if you want to have a closer look at coastal rural Norfolk from a tent or motorhome.

We have decided not to put a location map up on the site for security reasons, plus, we are a very exclusive site and would like to arrange the booking by phone to make sure that we are suitable for you.

We don’t have many facilities at the moment, this is real bush style camping, away from the road and without lots of other people. The site is suitable for motorhomes but we do not have electrical hook-up.

We are about 4 mins from the sea by car
or about 40 mins walk.

Buyer Beware

I have tried to be as constructive as possible in this review, but although set in a wonderful location, unfortunately the site is an enormous let down in many ways. It is styled as more of a bush/wild experience but the overgrowth around our pitch was actually dangerous - 6ft high nettles, exploring children, and dilapidated buildings do not go hand in hand. Furthermore, copious amounts of rabbit poo, broken clay pigeon discs and spent gun cartridges do not make for a pleasant experience. These are easy problems to rectify. The owner has been made aware of the flaws on previous occasions and has obviously not dealt with the problems.

I took a lot of the flaws with a pinch of salt, as it is more of a rough and ready site. Unfortunately, you will just not get what is advertised i.e. your plot will be secluded - there are paths and cut-throughs meaning that people may walk in front of or behind your plot. The owner also told us there were flushing loos, although there was only one, 75% of the time not having any toilet paper. Luckily, we brought a portable folding toilet. The washing-up facilities he gestured us towards were a water butt tied onto a tree with two hoses and a tiny, blocked up sink. These didn't work. I even unblocked the plughole, which was absolutely stuffed with bits of tree/leaves/etc. This would be a very easy problem to remedy, given that there is piped water on-site and the owner could cover the sink area with a simple roof.

Lastly, and most importantly, the owner seemed surprised to see us when we turned up at the appropriate time, as arranged in advance. He abruptly left us waiting, whilst he walked off in another direction to check his book. Then after our stay, he sent me a vile email accusing me of doing something I did not do. This is a really sad situation. I hate to speak bad of people, but after having looked at other camping review websites, I am clearly not the only person who has experienced this and felt compelled to warn others that the owner is not someone who will give you good customer service.

It is a massive, massive shame that this site, set in such a nice area, is not appropriately maintained. It has the potential to be such a great place, because it genuinely has some great features such as a communal barn and cob oven, very cheap prices, a beautiful outdoor shower (although entirely unsuitable for cooler weather) and being a few minutes' drive from the sea and other nearby attractions. I hope that if you do book into this site, then these problems will have been fixed. But sadly, it is just hugely let-down by very easy to remedy problems which have consistently been ignored by the owner.
