The fossgate SOCIAL, a small but perfectly formed coffee bar, snuggled away in York's foremost foodie quarter. Located on a street full of fellow independents, our relaxed, atmosphere makes us a little bit special. We have cracking speciality coffee and a marvellous selection of beers, all day and into the evening.

Our menu includes a selection of tempting breakfasts, brunches and seasonal specials all made fresh to order in our upstairs kitchen. On the bar we have gorgeous, home-made cakes and brownies as a treat to accompany the nicest coffee made with beans from award winning North Star Roastery, Leeds. We also offer a selection of loose-leaf Hebden Tea (and of course a smashing mug of Yorkshire) and a range soft drinks.

We have seven beers and ciders on tap. SOCIAL Hell, brewed just down the road in Malton by Brass Castle Brewery and SOCIAL Pale by Allendale Brewery in Hexham are regulars, plus we have a changing offer of the best of modern craft keg. We also have a choice of capital cocktails, including the legendary SOCIAL espresso Martini and plenty of prosecco. We openly admit to having a bit of a gin obsession, the proof is up on the back bar! We regularly hold events: Monday - the 5k social run, Tuesday - the weekly open mic, a monthly supper club and a bi-monthly record club, plus an art exhibition from the first Friday of each month.

We have a great little garden at the back, illuminated at night, and upstairs the blue velvet lounge has a cool vibe. Join our other great customers and pop in and say hi!
