Nightingale cottage is a detached bungalow which is quietly tucked away in a secluded part of old Alnwick. It is very conveniently located for Alnwick castle and the Gardens.

From the cottage it's an easy and level two minute walk to the town centre, where the market square,holds weekly markets. There are lots if interesting shops, many places to eat, a leisure centre with swimming pool, and bus station all within easy reach.

The river Aln and pastures, are just over the Lion Bridge some 300 metres from the cottage. There are lovely river bank walks there.

Hulne Park is set in beautiful peaceful parkland, it contains the ancient ruins of Alnwick Abbey and Hulne Abbey. Inside the park you will find a variety of designated walking routes. Hulne Park is a level two minute walk from the cottage.

Barter Books is located in Alnwick's old railway station, it is one of the largest second hand book stores in Great Britain, with its open fire and tempting buffet food it's a very interesting place to spend time at.

Across the road from Barter Books sits the Tenentry Column, this is a grand place to have an outdoor picnic. There you will find four life sized stone lions, they lie at rest at the base of a 30 metre high column which has the Percy Lion standing atop viewing the surrounding land.

Alnwick Playhouse is a wonderful venue, it hosts a variety of films, plays and musical performances, something to suit all ages.

The beautiful Northumbrian coast is just four miles away. There you will find scenic walks, boat trips, miles of sandy beaches, tantalising rock pools, sand dunes, islands, breathtaking scenery and nature at its finest.
