The magnificent wooded Otley Chevin creates an impressive backdrop to Otley Golf Club, and along with the wonderfully picturesque Wharfe Valley stretching to the north and west combine to place this parkland course in a unique location. Major investment in machinery, drainage, irrigation and manpower over a good number of years has resulted in first class conditions. The mature course in its delightful setting presents a challenge to golfers of all abilities.
The central situation of the Clubhouse makes it an ideal course for 9 holes before lunch and 18 afterwards. Although not physically demanding, the course provides a challenging and fair game of golf, with each hole setting its own individual examination. The first few holes at Otley provide one of the toughest starts in Yorkshire, one where a pre-match warm up on the two centrally positioned practice grounds will pay dividends.
To most visiting golfers the most important feature of a Golf Club is the condition of the course, but both the clubhouse and its facilities (particularly the food) also figure prominently on the list of requirements and here Otley is fortunate to boast near incomparable facilities. These have recently been further improved by a complete refurbishment and both the dining room and lounge bar afford panoramic views across the course to the valley and moorland beyond. A sun terrace and patio leading from the lounge provide an idyllic spot for enjoying warm summer evenings. The 19th hole is for the more traditionally minded amongst us. A selection of beers and lagers can be sampled while enjoying a frame of snooker. Every visitor to the club is assured a warm welcome.
