The estate comprises 1000 acres of which 100 acres are woodlands and walks. The gardens and woodlands can accommodate a variety of outdoor activities, including highland games, croquet, clay pigeon shooting, archery and falconry experiences to name but a few. In addition, golf, horse riding, wake boarding, off-road driving and wind surfing can be arranged nearby. Along with acres of land for outdoor activities, a courtyard ideal for barbeques, a terrace and stunning gardens, the house has a variety of reception rooms and comfortable lounges. The Drawing Rooms are delightful and welcoming with patios and balconies overlooking the gardens and parkland. Both rooms provide perfect settings for an exquisite, vintage afternoon tea or drinks on a warm summer evening. The Music Room, accommodating up to 60 guests, is one of the finest rooms of its age in Scotland. It was designed as a library and is completely surrounded by original, unpainted wood panelling and an impressive ceiling decorated with Rococo swirls. Additionally, the handsome Dining Room, with views over the parkland and gardens, can cater for up to 20 diners.

Gilmerton House offers 10 luxuriously appointed bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, providing accommodation for up to 20 guests. Each bedroom features a flat screen television and complimentary WIFI. Overnight guests can also, as part of a luxury breakfast prepared by the house chef, sample honey produced from Gilmerton House's own beehives.
