We are Daryll and Carey and along with Carington Mouse we run Carington Mouse's Larder for her. Being a very busy mouse sourcing products and generally being a mouse, it leaves little time for the day to day running, so that's where we step in. We have been a couple of mouses for a year and a half now, and decided to go into business to accommodate for the fantastic taste of Carington Mouse.
As a Scottish delicatessen we find aim to find the balance between a shop and cafe. Our menu contains local soup, gourmet filled rolls, sandwiches and toasties, along with cheese boards and Scottish anti-pasti boards. We offer these with seasonal coffee and tea served with organic Scottish milk, and for something a bit stronger we offer local Scottish beers, ethically sourced wine, and a Scottish elixir made from Whisky and wild Elderberries. We change our menu in accordance with the seasons and make sure we always keep it interesting. For a real Scottish experience we offer group tastings where we pair local Scottish food with beer, and liqueurs to give an authentic food experience.
The shop side of the larder contains local produce and some exotic treats. Our chiller is filled with local cheese, venison salami, venison haggis, Stornoway black pudding, Scottish beers, ethically sourced soft drinks, local preserves and much more. On the shelves you can find local oatcakes, organic shortbread, gin & tonic popcorn from Scotland, peat smoked sea salt, butter tablet, whisky fudge, and much more. We pride ourselves in sourcing interesting and unique products that show the real nature of Scottish food. We offer gift hampers for special occasions, and even rent out the larder for private events so you can experience the intimate setting and the quality of the produce with friends and family.
