Established in 1861 to prefabricate school writing slates. Today the comapy uses the same raw material namely 500 million year old slate to prefabricate architectural memorial craft and landscape proiducts.
The company is now open to the public for self guided tours to learn about the history of the slate industry and current methds of producing the various products in the company's workshops. There are geological, historical, calligraphy and letter cutting exhibitions.Also there is an opportunity to hav a go at calligraphy and letter cutting and you get a small pice of slate to engrave on that you get to keep as a souvenir.
