Fields rise to the woods above; a wealth of birds visit the garden to nest and feed; the river frontage is an absolute delight- and there is a hedgehog house!

Just blissful to while the morning away, sitting in the sunroom, watching sheep, cows birds and other wildlife visitors; listening to the sound of the kingfisher rich river below. Pick up the binoculars provided and spot the dipper; or you may be lucky enough to catch sight of the otters. The garden is steeply terraced and the decked balcony is a joy. This eco-renovated cottage, one of a terrace, sits on a road (the traffic is light) on the Welsh/English border between Knighton and Newtown. There are uninterrupted views of Shropshire’s sweet hills from the back of the cottage and stunning views of the heather covered Welsh hills from the front. The front door opens in to the sitting room, comfortably traditional with sofa and armchairs, a welcoming wood-burner stocked with logs, and shelves packed with books, games, videos, DVDs and ‘phone (no mobile signal here!) WiFi available. The kitchen units are handmade oak and there’s lean-to where the boiler and tumble drier are housed, handy for drying wet togs, and a secure store for bikes. The main bedroom has a patchwork quilt, the bathroom is spacious, the soaps are natural and the view is fabulous. As for owners, Marje and John, they live four miles away, are involved in the community and are passionate about wildlife. They will happily tell you all you need to know over a cuppa when you meet them to pick up the keys, and you can even feed their sheep and alpacas if you want to.
