Location:
This private island is located 10 km south of Diani Beach and 600 meters from the mainland. Crossing over is possible around the clock by boat or tractor (tide dependent).

The island is 1.2 km long and 0.8 km wide in north-south orientation.
It is divided into two parts: called the Hotel Resort and a sacred forest, called "Kaya". The hotel is located in a 60000 sqm large nature reserve with direct access to a private beach. Here come sea turtles to the beach to lay their eggs (seasonal). The wide sandy bay is protected by a mighty coral reef.
Inside the island is a mangrove lake fed by seawater in the natural changing of the tides. With its colorful flora and fauna, the island is something special.

Equipment:
Chale Iceland is a magical combination of nature, comfort and elegance. A mixture of Swahili style, Italian Stucko works, antique furniture from Lamu, African art objects and varnished mahogany characterize this hotel.
Wireless internet is available throughout the hotel (complimentary).
Chale Island uses electricity generators to supply energy. In order to be environmentally conscious and still effectively all rooms are supplied with power between 18:00 PM and 10:00 AM.
Except Penthouses, Suite on the rocks, Overwater Bungalow and the common areas, including bars, restaurant and reception which have power 24 hours a day.

Pools:
There are three swimming pools. The main pool with fresh freshwater is located near the reception and is connected by a small waterfall with a Jacuzzi.
Between the two Apartment towers there is another pool with bar and sun terrace. Sun beds and parasols (free of charge) are available at both pools and the beach. In addition to the spa and fitness area is a saltwater swimming pool nestled into the landscape. From here you can reach over some stairs directly the sea. At high tide, a great swimming experience, where you can swim through the mangroves to the jetty.

Board:
Half board (breakfast and dinner), full board and all inclusive (unlimited local drinks 10:00 to 23:00) in the buffet restaurant with live grill station and Mediterranean and African specialties. The A la carte snack bar “Chapateria”, that Chale main bar and the Galana pool bar completes the offer. Afternoon tea, coffee and cake.

Rooms:
There are 60 Non smoking rooms, bandas and suites. All units are furnished in traditional style and feature sea views, individually controlled air- conditioning, fan, shower / WC, balcony or terrace.
12 double rooms are located in the main building next to the Galana pool and 28 spacious semicircular double rooms in 2 towers each with 4 floors.
Two penthouses are at the top of the towers. They are equipped with spacious separate living and bedroom, bath robes, bottled water dispenser (inclusive), mini bar (Surcharge), and an upper floor with terrace and Jacuzzi from where you can enjoy an amazing 270 degree view and a spectacular sunset.

The Chale Bandas are palm thatched, individual bungalows with large bathrooms and an enchanting view. In addition, they offer a small private garden area with sun loungers and a terrace with Swahili daybeds.

The Suite on the Rocks is a generously landscaped bungalow on a small separate island and a bridge to the main island is connected. The suite has a loft-style bedroom / living room with connected bathrooms, bathrobes, bottled water dispenser (inclusive) and a Mini bar (extra charge). From the thatched roof, the rainwater flows into a mini garden in the center of the suite. A circular staircase leads to the upper gallery. On the terrace with sun loungers and day beds is a Jacuzzi which is lapped by the waves of the Indian Ocean wild or gentle depending on tides.

The Overwater Suite is unique in Kenya and offers amazing sunsets over the Indian Ocean. This extravagant suite is equipped with bathrobes, drinking water dispenser (inclusive), mini bar (fee), a living room, a large bedroom and a bathroom from where you each have direct access to the terrace. From there steps lead into the sea. The terrace also offers a hot tub/ Jacuzzi, sun beds, a day bed and a fantastic view of the canal towards Bird Island and the Gazi Bay.
