Hidden away in Katong, La Barca Ristorante & Wine Bar is a stunning restaurant set within the spacious grounds of the Goodman Arts Centre. ‘La Barca’ – the Italian word for ‘boat,’ was so named due to the shape of the site that it is situated on. We serve classic Tuscan fare with a modern twist, and an emphasis on fresh flavours and stylish presentation.
Being quietly tucked away, we offer a unique calm and serenity absent from restaurants in the city. Thus, we find ourselves excellent host for business lunches or those heart to heart with close friends.
However, we are not all business. Come weekends, we transform ourselves into a family friendly restaurant boasting a Kids’ Playroom, a bouncy castle, inflatable water slides and even a trampoline. A welcoming outdoor wooden deck, makes it a popular choice for children’s parties or just for taking in the tranquility.
La Barca is helmed by Executive Chef Giuseppe Di Gaetano. Born and raised in Taranto, a southern city of Italy with a rich history and great coastal lines, Chef Giuseppe "Peppo" Di Gaetano is a master of pasta and seafood dishes; picking up traditional recipes and skills from none other than his mom. Having worked with other experienced Italian chefs, Chef Peppo (as he is affectionately called), is nimble and adaptable with styles from other Italian regions.
Peppo moved to Singapore in 2011 and began a learning journey as the Sous Chef with Michelin star Chef, Michele Sorrentino; gaining invaluable knowledge on Tuscany recipes. Today, Chef Peppo transforms that knowledge and brings out that flavor that is both exciting and still Italian.
