The Black Bear Inn is one of the original Tyrolean style lodges still remaining in the village and has been owned by the Sommer Family since 1971. Black Bear is now under the management of Sandy Connor and Steve Mason, together with their friendly staff. Both Sandy and Steve are experienced accommodation and restaurant operators, and will do their utmost to ensure your stay is a comfortable one.
All rooms have great mountain views, ensuite bathrooms, tea and coffee making facilities, TV, and are serviced daily. Other facilities include ski and boot storage and luggage storage on day of check out if required.
The lodge is within an easy walking distance to shops, restaurants and nightlife, and is only a short walk to the winter shuttle bus stop for access to all skiing and parking areas. You are right in the heart of all the skiing and boarding action on the longest ski runs and the most legendary ‘Black Diamond’ runs of any resort in Australia, with a vertical drop of over twice that found elsewhere.
Some recent improvements have been carried out to guest rooms and the restaurant and bar areas, which has given Black Bear a breath of fresh air, and the atmosphere is alive and buzzing once again.
Sandy & Steve pride themselves on cleanliness and friendliness to ensure their guests have an enjoyable and memorable stay.
Restaurant:
The ‘Black Bear’ is famous for its authentic bar and licensed restaurant featuring Czechoslvakian Beer on tap and an extensive selection of local and imported beer and schnapps. Black bear’s restaurant has been a long time favourite and well known for its European style of food. Both restaurant and bar underwent some improvements during 2011 and the atmosphere is alive and buzzing at Black Bear once again. The cuisine is fresh and uncomplicated and has a subtle European influence, together with an extensive wine list to compliment your experience.
We can comfortably cater for groups or special functions of up to 50 people in this delightful venue. We also offer a ‘ Private Dining Room ‘ service for petite groups of up to 16 people and is a great option for a work function or petite weddings.
