The Arms of Australia Inn Museum is administered by the Nepean District Historical Society, and operates as a hands on museum for school groups and displays artefacts from the area, a number of which are in working order.
Nestled at the foot of the Blue Mountains at Emu Plains, it was an old coaching inn built in two sections, the first around 1826.
The stage coaches that plied the road day and night also used to stop at the inn as did many bullock team drivers taking stock and provisions over the mountains.
The society also run Lantern Tours that are designed to take visitors back to the early 1800s when people had to live with out electricity or running order. Visitors may get to meet some of the past travellers who have taken up permanent residence. Tours are by appointment only with a minimum of five people.
The Arms of Australia Inn Museum is open on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday between 9am and 2pm and on the 1st and 3rd Sunday from 1pm to 4pm.
