Cairns Dive Centre is one of Cairns most respected dive companies and one of the largest certifying agencies in the world. We have been operating in the Cairns area for over 30 years, maintaining outstanding quality and customer service. Cairns Dive Centre offers day cruises and live aboard trips for the snorkeller and diver, as well as PADI learn-to-dive courses through all levels from Open Water to Dive Master training.

Cairns Dive Centre has two dive centres in our portfolio, one based in Cairns, the other based on Fitzroy Island. We can also do day transfers to Fitzroy Island.

Day cruises operate daily onboard the M.V. Sun-Kist. She is a 18 metre mono hull, our transfer boat to our liveaboard boat, which also offers 5 full hours on the Great Barrier Reef. She carries a maximum of 20 passengers for our day trip to the Outer Great Barrier Reef . All snorkel/dive equipment is included as well as buffet lunch and afternoon tea. Introductory Scuba dives are available on request.

Fitzroy Island Day Trip Transfers: Our day boat, on the way to the Outer Great Barrier Reef, can stop via Fitzroy Island and drop passengers there for the day, returning to the island to pick them back up on the way back to Cairns at 3:30 in the afternoon. At our Fitzroy Island Dive Shop you can hire snorkel equipment, dive equipment for certified divers, organise to try an introductory dive, hire sea kayaks with coral viewers, stand up paddle boards, or enjoy a glass bottom boat tour.

Fitzroy Island is a costal island, having so much to offer, including magnificent rainforest walks to a sandy beach area.

Live aboard trips onboard the M.V. Kangaroo Explorer commence daily. The M.V. Kangaroo Explorer is a modern, 25 metre catamaran. Each of our 16 cabins (twin, double and 4-berth) is fully air-conditioned, carpeted, has its own en-suite facilities and window. Our twin and double rooms do not cost any extra and are sold on a first come first serve basis, allocated at the time of booking.

On the main deck there is a spacious saloon where our chef freshly prepares food, with most dietary requirements catered for. The top deck offers an enclosed air-conditioned sun lounge as well as an open and shaded sundeck. The boat is equipped with a spacious dive deck, providing easy access to and from the water.

Learn-to-dive courses commence daily in our new, purpose built, training facility, which includes an air-conditioned classroom and a heated, 4 metre deep training pool. In the centre of Cairns, we have a large retail dive shop, stocked with the latest equipment to cater for both the diver and snorkeller.

We offer a variety of Open Water Dive Courses, all of which consist of two days of pool and theory and then four training dives. The Open Water Island Hop Dive Course consists of two single day trips out to Fitzroy Island where the training dives are completed, the Open Water Island and Reef Open Water Dive Course consists of one day trip to Fitzroy Island and one day trip to the Outer Barrier Reef, The 4 Day Live aboard course (Open Water Reef Night) offers overnight accommodation on board the M. V. Kangaroo Explorer, where the student completes their four training dives, as well as one certified dive. By far the best experience is our 5 Day Open Water Dive Course (Open Water Reef Explorer) which allows the student to have three days/ two nights out on the reef, where once they have completed their certification they have the opportunity to experience 5 certified dives (4 day dives and one night dive) .

Our dive sites have been selected for their diversity and abundance of Marine Life, with their magnificent array of coral formation, giant clams, walls, drop offs, swim throughs and brilliantly coloured fish. Our great number of dive locations allows us to pick the right dive spot for any particular day, making it as enjoyable as possible for our passengers. We visit reefs such as Milln Reef, Moore Reef, Thetford Reef and Briggs Reef, all of which are located approximately 65 kilometres off the coast of Cairns.
