We are a family owned, pasture based, eco-friendly farming business in Central Queensland’s Pioneer Valley, south west of Mackay. Our mission is to supply healthy, fresh, great tasting food to local customers and we are excited to be part of a growing local food movement. At the heart of our business is a deep passion and respect for the land and our animals. We are committed to regenerating the ecosystem so that all elements of our environment may flourish.
In 2010 we created the Freckle Farm concept to pursue our dream. Six years down the track we have a truly free range egg, pork and beef operation using a pasture based system that maximises product quality, animal welfare outcomes and landscape health.

Freckle Farm is also a place for people to connect with their food – to understand the difference between what we produce and what is more commonly found on the supermarket shelves. We have been overwhelmed by the interest in our regular farm tours and especially enjoy the learning that takes place when children and school groups come to visit.

We run guided farm tours once a month from March through to October. Freckle Farm tours are led by owners Rob Bauman and Deb McLucas and vary depending on the season, but most tours will include a session on each of the following:

Brahman & Nguni Cross Cattle
Permaculture Food Forest & Gardens
Composting & Worm FarmsFreckle

Farm Tour has been carefully designed with children in mind, because we strongly believe that all kids need to see where real food comes from. We have a hay trailer ride for the little ones and all of our walking tracks are pram friendly. This is one of the few opportunities most children will get to see and touch real farm animals. So please bring your children, grandchildren, neighbours children etc with you. We love to have them on our tours.
