Wongari Eco Retreat offers two boutique, self-contained, one bedroom cabins in the secluded and private rainforest wilderness of the Lamington National Park. We're only one hour and forty minutes away from Brisbane and the Gold Coast but, naturally, a world away. We do not have mobile connection or the internet. Wongari is an ecological getaway free from the crowded and busy technological world we live in today. We hope our guests shut out the world they come from and try relaxing and re-connecting in nature.
As you drive through farms and beautiful countryside on Christmas Creek Road you approach a ring of mountains called the Boarder Ranges. Where these ranges enter Queensland they meet the Lamington National Park. In the foothills of these mountains the country road you travel, which parallels Christmas Creek, disappear into a gorge together. A dirt road is met and winds around steep mountain faces for another three kilometers before a hidden valley opens before you and your accommodation destination is revealed.
Our cabins, Serenity and Bimbul, are designed with couples in mind so that that the intimacy they share with nature is contagious. Some couples have brought a child or teenager with them and this can be accommodated as well. With fireplaces and creek the seasons are enjoyed whether winter or summer. The national park is a short distance away and walks of various levels are available but we're hoping that exploring our small 60acre property is an attraction in itself as it is surrounded by national park and has another Waterfall Creek that runs exclusively through our property and starting at the impressive Lamington Falls in the McPherson Ranges.
