Roaring 40°s Kayaking

Discover the dramatic coastlines of southern Tasmania, kayaking among sea cliffs, sea caves, shipwrecks, beaches and wildlife, explore Hobart's iconic waterfront from a different perspective and enjoy fish and chips deliverd to your kayak, or for a once-in-a-lifetime kayaking experience, join a multiday expedition into Tasmania's Wilderness World Heritage Area. Bathurst Harbour and Port Davey are a sea-kayaker’s paradise, with a combination of sheltered wilderness harbours, rugged ocean coastlines, remote islands and wild rivers.

HOBART CITY
Hobart’s iconic waterfront … from a different perspective
Nestled between river and mountain, Hobart has one of the most picturesque harbours in the world. On our 2.5-hour city paddle and we take you behind the scenes of our vibrant, working waterfront to discover the true heart of Hobart. Glide past prestigious homes, marvel at tall wooden sailing ships and keep an eye out for Sammy the resident seal. Your discovery of Hobart wouldn’t be complete without some locally caught fish and chips from the city’s famed floating fish punts. Enjoy them with the best view in town - straight from your kayak!

TASMAN PENINSULA
Kayak close to the southern hemisphere’s highest sea cliffs and resident Australian fur seals
At sea level you’ll truly appreciate the scale of Australia’s highest sea cliffs, gazing up at 200-metre-high fluted rock formations, peering into natural sea caves, photographing the towering Candlestick, and searching for climbers on the Totem Pole - a sheer column famed amongst thrill-seeking rock climbers. Enjoy our gourmet Tasmanian lunch at a deserted bay, paddle over a semi-submerged shipwreck and marvel at the abundant marine wildlife that lives along the coast of the Tasman National Park.

HOBART’S CLIFFS, CAVES AND BEACHES
Enjoy a relaxed day paddle exploring Hobart’s diverse river and coast.
Discover why picturesque Storm Bay - at the mouth of Hobart’s Derwent River - is a favourite playground of locals. Experience an astounding variety of scenery just 20km from the city. Paddle amongst tranquil bays, glide beneath the lichen-covered cliffs, explore sea caves, enjoy views of Bruny Island and keep a look out for the abundant wildlife that calls this Tinderbox Marine Reserve home. For lunch, enjoy Tasmania’s famous produce whilst relaxing on one of our many beautiful beaches.

WILDERNESS ON WATER EXPEDITIONS
This is the ultimate multi-day sea kayaking experience and has been named as the “most magnificent paddling destination in Australia” and “one of the world’s 10 epic sea kayak paddles”. Bathurst Harbour and Port Davey, in Tasmania’s Wilderness World Heritage Area, offer a combination of sheltered wilderness harbours, rugged ocean coastlines, remote islands and wild rivers. There are no roads and no settlements. Discover spectacular destinations in the best way possible - by water, at paddling pace.

Our guides know this pristine wilderness intimately – all the sheltered bays and open beaches, the peaks and islands, every hidden corner and comfortable campsite. After a spectacular flight to the remote airstrip at Melaleuca your days will be spent exploring one of Tasmania’s most remote and beautiful coastlines, paddling through perfect reflections in the tannin-stained waters, beneath mountains that rise from the shore and stopping in at sandy beaches.

This trip has a flexible itinerary with time for optional short walks or relaxing on the beach. You will spend two nights in the luxury of Forest Lagoon standing camp, with your other nights in remote and hidden campsites. Every night you will enjoy delicious food with a glass of wine.
Previous kayaking experience is not necessary, but it is important to have a sound level of fitness, be comfortable with wilderness camping and, most of all, have a sense of adventure.
