Ferrymead Park was formed in the late 1960's as an early 1900s (Edwardian) township, with exhibits from member societies such as period houses, picture theatre, school classroom, church, jail, railway station, post office, printers and much more.

There are also a large array of heritage displays that are often open for viewing, particularly on Sundays. These museums are owned and operated by individual societies and their own volunteer workers restore and display their collections. These include Rural History, Aeronautical, Fire Engines, Model Railway, Post & Telegraph office and Printers.

Enjoy unlimited heritage tram rides on weekends and holidays. Unlimited Steam Train rides are on the first Sunday of every month. Major events happen on special occasions throughout the year, including Easter weekend, Queen's Birthday weekend and Labour weekend.

Arrange your wedding, birthday, group visit, or corporate event at Ferrymead Heritage Park for a function with a difference. Your visit can be custom built for you or your group and can include guided tours of individual displays, a tram ride with a tour of the tram barn to see the restoration of the trams, and/or a viewing of a classic movie in the cinema.

Education programmes are also available for pre-school, primary, secondary and ESOL students.
