THE HIRSCHSPRUNG COLLECTION

The Hirschsprung Collection is an artmuseum beautifully situated in the green parklands of Østre Anlæg in the center of Copenhagen, Denmark. Founded by tobacco manufacturer and art collector Heinrich Hirschsprung and his wife Pauline, the museum first opened its doors to the public in the summer of 1911. The museum houses 100 years of Danish 19th century art, ranging from the Golden Age to the Skagen Painters and the advent of Modernism. The collection includes masterpieces by Eckersberg, Købke, Lundbye, Krøyer, Anna and Michael Ancher, Philipsen and Hammershøi. The museum also hosts temporary exhibitions, guided tours and activites for children.
