The Weihenstephaner is situated in the oldest building in Berlin’s central “Mitte” district. Dating back to 1749, it was a gift from King Frederick William II of Prussia to writer Anna Louisa Karsch. Our “Gewölbekeller” – the building’s historic Vaulted Cellar – also dates back to that year. After extensive renovations in 2002/2003, these rustic vaulted halls now serve as the venue where we entertain our esteemed Weihenstephaner guests.
Here in this richly historic environment, our traditional tavern tables provide seating for up to 180 people.

The ground floor of the Weihenstephaner provides cozy seating for 100 at traditional Bavarian-style tables. This typical tavern atmosphere is the perfect accompaniment not only for classic Alpine region tidbits and beer specialties from the Bavarian State Brewery Weihenstephan, but also for the dishes specially selected for you from the regions of Bavaria, Tirol, and South Tirol.

Our primary aim is to bring the inn and tavern culture of the Alps to Berlin, creating an intensely rich experience right here at Hackescher Markt. For us, this means bringing you the outstanding beers from the Bavarian State Brewery Weihenstephan – the oldest brewery in the world – and other exceptional products from the foothills of the Alps in Bavaria as well as the regions of Tirol and South Tirol. But most importantly, this means bringing you the unpretentious, heartfelt hospitality of these regions that you know and love from your vacations and other travels to these places.
Our kitchen and cellar stock products exclusively from suppliers and producers that we know personally – we have visited their businesses and sampled their handiwork ourselves. This is the only way to be sure that we can consistently keep our promise of quality, which can then be happily confirmed by our guests.
