The building used to be an old flour and olive oil mill whose machinery is showed in the ground floor. At the foot of the Sierra de Albayate, as well as on the itinerary of the Great-Hill walking route GR-7, the museum is located in natural surroundings of extensive environmental interest and singular beauty. The vicinity of the building itself is designed for cultural activities.
The Museum covers 1200 square metres divided in three rooms: The Oil and Olive Tree Room as a witness of history, the Iberian Culture Room and the Roman Culture Room. It’s shown a lot and very well preserved daily Iberian pottery, cereal mills, weaponry, and the amazing set of sculptures from the Roman Villa, of which the exceptional statue of the Greco-roman God of Dreams “Hypnos” or “Somnus” is the most representative piece.
