Prince August is Ireland's only toy factory, and manufactures toy moulds that allow our customers to cast an array of metal figurines, with themes from chess sets to fantasy and historical wargaming. We also manufacture Lord of the Rings metal miniatures licensed from Tolkien's famous books 'The Hobbit' and 'The Lord of the Rings'. We have expanded our visitor center to include a huge exhibit showcasing 15,000 metal soldiers in the Battle of Waterloo. This 26 x 13 foot diorama was hand made by one of our customers, using our moulds, over a period of eight years. It gives a bird's eye view of one of the most famous battles in European history and Napoleon's final conflict.
The factory is a working factory and there is no admission fee to enter it. Car parking is also free. Tea / Coffee is available to purchase as well as some snacks. Free Wifi is available. Every visitor will get a free demonstration on hobby casting by staff and may avail of our wide array of casting and painting workshops, all of which can be pre-booked on-line at a discount. The Waterloo exhibit has a small charge for entry and is filled with historical information on every aspect of that battle. Our shop is filled with hand crafted figurines produced inhouse as well as a selection of crafts and art from other Irish manufacturers. We also offer bus/coach tours and cater to parties.
The visitor center is open 9 to 5 weekdays and 10 to 5 weekends and Irish Bank Holidays. With the exception of about a week over Christmas and St. Patrick's Day, we are open to the public all year around.
