The Lewes Polar Bear Plunge to benefit Special Olympics Delaware is one of the state's largest fundraising events.
On the first Sunday in February, thousands of people descend on Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, to take part in the Polar Bear Plunge Weekend Festival. Saturday events include a 5k run, Fire and Ice Festival (wings and ice cream), restaurant chili tasting competition and more.
Then on Sunday at 1 p.m., thousands of "Bears" run into the Atlantic Ocean ... all to benefit more than 4,000 Special Olympics Delaware athletes.
