Attending one of the Pella Historical Village’s special events or taking a daily self-guided tour is an educational adventure for school groups, clubs and families. See how early Pella pioneers lived in sod houses, how wooden shoes were made, and how Wyatt Earp lived as a child. Kids will love playing in the puppet and music rooms of the Village. Climb up the windmill to watch millers grind flour. Take in the enchanting Miniature Village. Walk through the rooms where Pella's founder, H.P. Scholte and his wife, Maria, lived.  There are so many things to do here, so come visit us for a morning or afternoon or stay all day. We welcome you to become Dutch for the day!

The Vermeer Windmill is the tallest working windmill in the United States. From it you can view the city of Pella and the surrounding countryside. The adjacent Historical Village houses 22 buildings that take visitors from the first sod huts that the early Pella settlers used to a history of Tulip Time and includes the boyhood home of Wyatt Earp. Two blocks away, across the city square, stands the home of Pella's founder Hendrik Pieter Scholte, and his wife, Maria, built in 1848.

Tulip Time is held the first full weekend in May and brings hundreds of thousands of visitors to see the tulips, the two daily parades (evening lighted parade), taste the Dutch specialties, and see hundreds of local citizens in Dutch costumes from specific provinces in the Netherlands.
