The Heritage Village of the Southern Finger Lakes is located in historic Corning, NY. The village includes the 1796 Patterson Inn, 1850s Wixon Rd Log Cabin, 1878 Browntown Schoolhouse, 1870s Cooley Blacksmith Shop, Interactive farming exhibit in the Starr Barn, Joiners Shop, and heirloom gardens.
The centerpiece of the Village is the Benjamin Patterson Inn, built in 1796. Benjamin Patterson and his wife, Sarah Patterson, were the first Innkeepers. Tour the oldest existing tavern in the Lands of the Painted Post. The Williamson Road, now known as Route 15, along with the Chemung River was the frontier highway. These two routes of travel allowed people to come to this region to buy land from the Pulteney Estate. The Pattersons welcomed the weary travelers with a place to sleep and a hot meal.
We offer daily, one hour guided tours of the Village. We also have special events, workshops, and programs throughout the year. We are open Monday-Friday from 10am-4pm. (Saturdays by appointment) We are occasionally closed to the public for school programs and special events. we recommend calling ahead to schedule a visit.
