More than a museum! Displaying exquisite pieces, The Rockwell is a unique community center where people enjoy, connect, and reflect on the essence of the American spirit, character and values through the eyes of American artists. Our diverse, unique collection, gifted by Bob and Hertha Rockwell, serves as the base of our work, and provides inspiration for our innovative programs. Our mission is to use our collection to stimulate and engage our visitors, both within the Museum and within the greater Corning community.
What You'll See:
Housed within the Old City Hall building of Corning, this diverse collection includes a mix of nineteenth-century American paintings, historic bronzes, and Indian artifacts as well as twentieth-century modernists, illustration art, and contemporary photography. Featured galleries represent the works of Andy Warhol, the Taos Society of Artists, and masterworks of Remington and Russell. Two to three rotating exhibitions per year allow visitors to come again and again to see something different.
Family Friendly:
Open daily, The Rockwell welcomes the young and the young-at-heart to explore art abotu the American experience. From Art Hunts to our Family Exploration Studio, the museum is designed to make art accessible to kids, and inspire an appreciation for art at a young age. Kids love our activities, and parents become gallery experts to guide their families through the story of art throughout America. Young museum-goers will adore the opportunity to explore on their own. Kids 17 and under are always FREE!
