Lake Placid Center for the Arts

The Lake Placid Center for the Arts is a year-round performing and visual arts facility. Located in the Adirondack Park of Northern New York, the LPCA consistently presents arts of the highest caliber in music, dance and theatre performances, film exhibitions and visual arts presentations. In addition the Arts Center provides special arts-in education programs, workshops and residencies for aspiring and renowned artists. The Arts Center is the home of the Lake Placid School of Ballet, LPCA Children's Theatre, Community Theatre Players, as well as the summer home of the Lake Placid Sinfonietta.

The Lake Placid Center for the Arts is the destination for diverse visual and performing arts programs for everyone in the Adirondacks and beyond. The LPCA seeks to cultivate a vibrant arts community, stimulate artistic excellence and exchange of ideas, and foster the creation, appreciation, and understanding of the arts. The LPCA delivers this vision through exhibits, performances, studio and other education programs, in its own facilities and through collaboration with schools and other arts organizations.

The LPCA was founded in 1972 by Nettie Marie Jones, whose generosity and vision provided not only the 2.4 acres and the buildings on which the Arts Center grew, but also the guiding force behind its programming. It is the only year-round complex for the arts in the North Country region serving over 30,000 residents and visitors annually.

Since its founding in 1972, the LPCA has presented arts of the highest caliber including George Winston, YoYo Ma, Bob Brookmeyer, Paul Taylor, Stars of the New York City Ballet, Pilobolus, Alvin Ailey II, Buckwheat Zydeco, Jose Greco, Vincent Price, Richard Adler, Dougie McLean, Royal Shakespeare Company, New York Gilbert & Sullivan Players, Rory Block, Natalie MacMaster, Peter Yarrow, Edwin McCain, Vasser Clements, The Capitol Steps and the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra.
