Patsy’s Italian Restaurant has been a traditional, family-owned and operated Italian restaurant located in Midtown Manhattan. Much like the restaurant, patsys.com is owned and managed by the family – so whether you’re watching our videos, reading our blogs, or talking to us on Facebook, you’re spending time with our family!

Founded in 1944 by Pasquale “Patsy” Scognamillo, Patsy’s Italian Restaurant has been in its current and only theater district location (in the building next to the original site) since 1954. In almost 70 years of existence, Patsy’s Italian Restaurant has had only three chefs; the late Patsy himself, his son Joe Scognamillo, who has been at the establishment since the tender age of seven, and Joe’s son Sal Scognamillo, who has been manning the kitchen for the past 29 years.

STORY
Patsy’s Italian Restaurant attracts a varied clientele, including an extremely loyal following of regular patrons, Italian food aficionados, tourists, and celebrities. They enjoy the restaurant’s remarkable signature dishes, including succulent Veal Chops Siciliano, spicy Lobster Fra Diavolo, tender Chicken Contadina, and savory Calamari stuffed with seafood. Spectacular seafood such as Striped Bass Marechiare, Lobster Oreganata, and Shrimp Scampi are always requested, as are meat favorites like Sirloin Steak Pizzaiola with Peppers and Mushrooms, Stuffed Veal Chop Marsala, and Chicken Livers Cacciatora.

HISTORY
Patsy’s Italian Restaurant has been known for years as the restaurant Frank Sinatra made famous, and in fact, his family still enjoys dining at Patsy’s Italian Restaurant whenever they are in town. In addition to Sinatra and family, Patsy’s Italian Restaurant has become a favorite with countless stars on both the east and west coasts, who have come to regard Patsy’s Italian Restaurant as a mecca of Italian fine dining.

Some of Patsy’s Italian Restaurant’s high profile patrons include Michael Bublé, Ben Stiller, Tony Danza, Al Pacino, Placido Domingo, Alec Baldwin, Kim Basinger, Tom Hanks, Madonna, George Clooney, Rappers Heavy “D” and Sean “Puff Daddy” Combs, David Letterman, Oprah Winfrey, Keanu Reeves, Jonathan Demme, Tony Bennett, Don King, Robert DeNiro, Don Rickles, Jaclyn Smith, Phyllis George, Stephen King, Calvin Klein, Carroll O’Connor, Jon Bon Jovi, Rush Limbaugh, Liza Minnelli, Jerry Stiller, Anne Meara Stiller, Chris Noth, Jaime Farr, Chevy Chase, Cheryl Ladd, Huey Lewis, and Patty LaBelle, to name several. In addition, our patrons have also included the late Mario Puzo, James Gandolfini, John F. Kennedy Jr., Farrah Fawcett, Rosemary Clooney, and many others.

For lunch, dinner, business, or pleasure, Patsy’s Italian Restaurant has been serving traditional Italian cuisine at the highest standards and in the warmest atmosphere for well over half a century. Family owned and operated for 71 years, the original Patsy’s Italian Restaurant, in its only location, 236 West 56th St in New York City, has been the place for homestyle Neapolitan Italian food that has been enjoyed for generations.

Patsy’s Italian Restaurant, of course, serves some of the finest in the city…including Linguine Puttanesca, Penne alla Vodka, Tortellini Bolognese, Spaghetti or Whole-wheat Pasta Marinara, and Cannelloni with Meat Sauce.

Patsy’s Italian Restaurant’s famous sauces, made from the freshest ingredients, are available in better supermarkets and specialty food stores throughout the U.S. The tomato-based sauces, 100% natural, with no preservatives or added sugar, are available in six varieties, including Marinara, Tomato Basil, Fra Diavolo, Puttanesca, Vodka, and Pizzaiola.
