The Teddies have plenty of company in the shop. You're likely to find anything from aardvarks to zebras and a lot in between.
We have the largest selection of Steiff collectibles, artist bears and Muffy Vanderbear in the Northeast. We have everything from your high end collectibles to the most basic soft cuddlies. You will find Folkmanis puppets, Mary Meyer, Gund, Boyd's, Merry Thought, Raikes, Douglas, jewelry, ceramics, cards, hats, books and endless other bearaphernalia.
You'll stay in any of 6 guest rooms and suites blending 19th-century charm and modern touches, each with a private bath and air conditioning. Rooms accommodate couples, singles, and families. Wake up to a hearty country breakfast where seconds are encouraged and there is plenty of Vermont maple syrup for your pancakes. Relax on a spacious wrap-around porch, in the cozy den or the living room where there is wireless internet access, cable television, toys and board games too.

Inn History...
In 1825, a unique Italian Colonnade home was built and situated across form the village green in Chester, Vermont. It saw many years, many seasons and went through many changes. It had different owners, was a schoolhouse for a period and went through the Victorian era, which changed this home into a beautiful Queen Anne style Victorian home by adding a tower, bow windows and a big wrap around porch. Circa 1905, a Carriage House was constructed on the property. One of the finest examples of carriage barns in New England, it shares the Colonial Revival style - notably the gambrel form of roof - with several contemporary Chester village buildings. The projecting loft gable and the pyramidal-capped cupola distinguish the finely executed barn.
In 1982, this Victorian home went through another transformation when it was renovated to accommodate guests with a private bathroom in every bedroom. The Hugging Bear Inn was born and continued to welcome families, children, and everyone from all over the world that love Vermont, enjoy a Bed and Breakfast Inn and, most of all, have a passion for Teddy Bears. The theme of the Hugging Bear Inn revolves around teddy bears, family, fun, collecting and enjoying the lovely countryside of Vermont.
IN 1983, the Hugging Bear Shoppe began. This gift shop quickly grew from 1 to 4 extensive rooms of the finest selection of teddy bears in the Northeast, with 1,000's of teddy bears and similar products available for purchase. Now also selling Vermont products and maple syrup.

ROOMS:
(#1) The Tower Room
Cozy and romantic with queen-sized bed, full private bath with shower and air-conditioning. An octagonal room in the tower (aka, the turret) of this Victorian home overlooks the village green.

(#2) The Bear Den
Overlooking the village green, this bright and spacious room accommodates a family or group of people. Has two queen-sized beds and a twin-sized pull-out love-seat couch. Has wall-to-wall carpeting, private bath with shower and air conditioning. Also features a infrared fireplace heater.

(#3) Sunshine Room
This cozy room has a king bed, private bathroom with shower, and air-conditioning. Very bright and cheerful.

(#4) Teddy Roosevelt Room
Bed that has a king-sized bed and pull-out twin. This room boasts a beautiful bay window with a love-seat couch that can pull out for extra sleeping (the twin). A comfortable room for resting, relaxing and reading a good book. Private bath with shower and air-conditioning.

(#5) Bear Cub Room
A room with calming earth tones. This is a medium-sized room with 1 queen and 1 full double bed, private bathroom with shower and air conditioning.

(#6) The Tree House Room
This room has a double bed. Private bathroom with marble floor and claw-foot tub with shower. It is an upper level hide-away with a porch, very quiet and private. One must enter the room by going onto an outside porch and then entering it from a door off the porch.
