CHURCH COURT COTTAGES

Church Court Cottages consist of three beautiful red sandstone cottages set around a courtyard in the picturesque and peaceful village of Gamblesby in the Eden Valley. With easy access to the motorway, Carlisle, Gretna Green, Newcastle and Scotland, as well as all the tourist attractions of the Lake District National Park, we are well situated to cater for everyone's needs.

The cottages sleep 2-4 and are all fully equipped for your stay. If your group is larger than 4, you can book more than one cottage and receive a discount on the normal price.

We are dog-friendly and non-smoking with parking for each cottage in our courtyard. We also have travel cots and high-chairs available for our small guests !

The cottages range in size to suit all needs and budgets, ranging from our smallest - "Herdwick Cottage" with its double bedroom and en-suite bathroom, a kitchen/diner and lounge area, to "The Barn" consisting of double and twin bedrooms, a shower room and a huge open-plan lounge/diner/kitchen upstairs with its beamed ceiling and wood-burning stove for those cosy nights in by the fire !
Finally, Helm Cottage has the benefit of a king bedroom, en-suite-shower room and a large kitchen/diner/lounge area.

Whatever you like to do during the day, be it walking, relaxing, or sight-seeing, whether you are with family, friends or colleagues, we are sure we have the right cottage for you to enjoy.

We have several pubs nearby that serve great food and for those bringing their four-legged friends, many of our local pubs are dog-friendly.
Guests are recommended to travel with their own transport (due to the limited village bus service), but we are happy to pick-up and drop-off at the nearby station if necessary.

We include a welcome pack of basic food necessities to start you off on your holiday, and provide all bed-linen, towels and a selection of toiletries.

The only thing we don’t include is the electricity charged at 25p per kwh (non profit rate), payable by debit/credit card or cash, also, we ask for a £50 refundable damages deposit per cottage, payable on arrival, and returned within a week of departure by BACS.

In addition, you can order a home-cooked meal for your arrival, and we offer Celebration Packages available to order if one of your group has something special to celebrate during your stay.
We offer babysitting and dog-sitting services during your stay too, to help with those times that you just want to get away for a little "you-time"

We are in a fantastic location for many varied pursuits.
Within a 5 mile radius, there are at least 5 country pubs that do great food and are mostly dog-friendly.
There are many local walks for strolling or serious hiking and great scenery for the avid photographer.
Birds and Wildlife are in abundance - we even have our own friendly hedgehog that visits nightly !...not to mention the deer, badgers, hares, rabbits, red squirrels, weasels, owls, raptors and numerous local small birds, as well as our village sheep.
We are also a popular area for cyclists.

The Eden Valley is a destination in itself and is one of England's least populated and most un-spoilt landscapes. It has wonderful opportunities for walking, cycling, visiting historic houses, enjoying the wildlife and even stargazing. It is within easy reach of Hadrian's Wall, as well as the spectacular Lake District and the wild walking of the Pennines. There is plenty to do even around the village and local areal - look out for red squirrels, barn owls, badgers, deer and many other animals and birds. Some of the fine local houses include Acorn Bank, Hutton in the Forest, Dalemain and Lowther Castle. Why not journey on the Settle-Carlisle railway or boat on Lake Ullswater to name a few possibilities !

You are welcome to call us with any questions you may have, also our website should answer most queries about the accommodation, directions and facilities.

We hope we have given you a taste of what your stay with us would be like, and hope to meet you soon - once you have discovered the beautiful scenery and tranquil location, we are sure you will want to come back again and again, like many of our guests, and become part of the Gamblesby family !
