Embark on an adventure, explore the reserve, engage in an activity or rest up a while. Hanningfield Reservoir Visitor Centre offers something for everyone.
Start your day at the visitor centre. We're open 9-5 every day of the year except Christmas Day and Boxing Day. There's free parking and no entry fee, but as a charity we do ask for a donation to keep the centre running and support our conservation and education work. A friendly welcome and helpful advice will point you in the right direction. Fancy a sit down with a sandwich, a cake and a cuppa? We've got it covered? Interested in wildlife? Our beautiful viewing windows and 4 bird hides give unique and peaceful views over the reservoir. Looking for something for the kids? Why not take part in our Wind in the Willows Trail - you'll have great fun exploring the reserve and doing brass rubbings of some of the much-loved characters from the famous children's book. Like a good walk? There are around 3 miles of gentle trails for you to access, through ancient woodland, past ponds and meadows. We also run activities throughout the year, for pre-schoolers, school children, young adults and adults. These include chances to learn about nature, make crafts, get up close to some beautiful animal species, watch bats emerging from our roost and special holiday fairs at Easter, Summer, Halloween and Christmas. Keep your eye on our website and Facebook page for details, or pick up a leaflet when you visit.
When you've finished, head back to the visitor centre for a well earned rest and have a look in our shop for books, cards, local produce and gifts. We look forward to welcoming you to Hanningfield Reservoir Visitor Centre soon.
