Hang out at England’s ‘small visitor attraction of the year'! Monkey Haven, the Island’s primate rescue centre, has been awarded this amazing accolade by VisitEngland in their Awards for Excellence 2017."

Monkey Haven is a Gold award-winning attraction that makes animals happy... and people happy. Come and see us at our primate rescue centre and sanctuary just outside Newport. You'll meet our wonderful family including whooping gibbons, mischievous monkeys, amazing owls, incredible reptiles and the naughtiest meerkats ever! There are keeper talks and animal feeds throughout the day, where you can find out all about our awesome animals and how they came to be here. You can even get up close and personal with some of the reptiles and hand-reared owls who make regular appearances at the daily talks.

Monkey Haven is a fun place to relax, and as well as the popular Keeper talks and feeds, there are loads of new things to see and do this year. You can get free Wi-Fi and an ‘awesome App’ has been launched with a trail around the park where you have to answer crazy questions to win bananas - there’s a little treat for you once you’ve bagged the bunch. Plus you’ll get sneaky peaks behind the scenes and there are fun photo filters so that you can take your own monkey selfies!

There are stamper trails, play areas, a tea room, gift shop, full disabled access, pushchair-friendly paths, free car parking and tickets are valid for a free return within seven days. As a charity, all proceeds are used to support the animals, many of which have been rescued from the cruel pet trade and are very rare. They are encouraged to display normal behaviour through activities such as foraging for live bugs or tucking into healthy ice-lollies. Every day is different – and fun!
