The Duke of Cumberland was built in 1749, and stands in the beautiful village of Barham near Canterbury (7 minutes drive away). It is a family run pub with three letting rooms, serving wonderful ales and locally sourced food. There is ample parking and a large play area featuring a fort for the children to climb on. The letting rooms are not suitable for dogs, but dogs are welcome in the bar area and grounds. The rooms are recently decorated, and include 2 doubles and a family room. They are all available as single occupancy and are reasonably priced. The family room has a superior King sized bed, and a small single bed, with a second small single bed available if two children are staying. Breakfasts are home cooked and served between 8am and 9am (or earlier by prior appointment).
Our menu is all home cooked and the dining area is cozy and warm. All ingredients are locally sourced so the menu is always seasonal. We have a small friendly team of staff headed by the owners who also have three other local establishments, one other offering 7 letting rooms in the nearby village of Elham at The Abbots Fireside www.abbotsfireside.com. The pub is open every day from 12 noon until late and serves food all day on Saturdays and Sundays, and from 12-2.45 and 6-9.30 on weekdays.
