La Patagonia was born out of a desire to recreate the unique quality, ambiance and value of the popular “barrio” restaurants of Argentina. Informal places where hungry people go to eat the same tried and tested dishes that have been enjoyed again and again from generation to generation. For this reason we call ourselves “traditional” and take pride that there are no fusions or inventions happening here. In a city like London where every exotic taste can be satisfied we aim to offer just simply cooked good food and wine as loved by millions of Argentinians every day.
We use a real charcoal grill to cook our meats and vegetables. Also, we have a complete menu with many classic dishes offered which are not from the grill such as our own pasta and milanesas (escalopes) made from fresh in the kitchen and our own recipe chorizo cooking sausages. Apart from Argentine cuts of sirloin, rib eye and fillet (all from grass fed cattle) we also offer a very tasty short rib which is our very own style “Asado de Tira”, skirt steak (entraña) pork neck fillet (bodiola) and Lamb steaks. Our menu also include a variety of vegetarian dishes. We have a good selection of some of the great wines of Mendoza and Patagonia. Prices start at only £15 a bottle for our house Argentinian Malbec and of course we offer the famous Argentine beer “Quilmes”.
The name La Patagonia was adopted as the host’s grandfather was one of the first Argentine writers to explore the Argentine part of the Patagonia wilderness in the 1920’s and wrote a book of short stories called La Tierra Maldita (The Forbidden Land). Photos of his exploration are hung in the restaurant.

Once a month on Wednesday we offer either Live Tango music or Tango dancing. Some musicians come on tour from Argentina while others are part of the small but thriving Argentine community of London.
