Cafe Britannia

Based at the former Britannia Barracks and with spectacular views over Norwich, Cafe Britannia opened its doors to the public in January 2014. Our slogan taste rules, symbolises our delicious freshly cooked meals.
We are open 7 days a week with a dedicated menu providing Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner service. Not only this but we have an array of beautiful cakes, speciality scones, and sausage rolls which has certainly put Cafe Britannia on the map as a destination for Afternoon Tea!

The cafe is situated next to HMP Norwich and staffed by category D low risk prisoners, many of whom have limited catering experience but all have volunteered to learn new skills, improve their lives and make a fresh start.
As a social enterprise, we strive to not only put our profits back into community projects but we actively source a large proportion of our products from local Norfolk suppliers and from our own prison gardens.

All profits generated from the cafe are donated to community projects, including customer tips which are donated to Victim Support. To date, over £50,000 in tips have been donated to Victim Support.

Guildhall Britannia cafe
Review by guest - Dec 19, 2017 - 8:13 AM
Having loved my visits to the Britannia cafe mousehold, I was so looking forward to trying the new Britannia cafe, guildhall Norwich. We were given the wrong information by staff on the phone telling us we didn't need to book for a Christmas lunch. We turned up and asked for dietary information because there was no information on the menu and staff were so short and dismissive it felt rude. I haven't had such a bad experience at a cafe ever! I shall be telling everyone I know to avoid the cafe... Shame!
