Hidden away in the heart of Norfolk, you’ll find us working hard, perfecting our craft, just like we’ve always been. Raised in Nelson’s county, we’ve called Woodbastwick our home since 1981, and our passion has brought us incredible success with two Supreme Champion Beer of Britain awards under our Admiral’s hat.

Now, 30 years on, our tasty beers are proudly found on tap across the Nation.

Our beers go back a long way. When good friends Ray Ashworth and Dr David Crease got tired of the same old bland beers of the time, they imagined change. With a passion for homebrewing and creating authentic flavours, they became part of a new-wave revolution, handcrafting their own beers in the 1960s.

Improving on every iteration, they raised the bar year after year. With great taste, comes great demand. And the great taste of those very first beers created demand for our brewery. Through trial and error, with energy and ingenuity and, using local barley and water from our own boreholes – these brewing pioneers took home their first award in 1990. Proud to achieve CAMRA’s ‘New Breweries Champion Beer of Britain’ for the Wherry pint we’re still famous for today.
