Fairhaven Woodland and Water Garden is in the heart of the Norfolk Broads. It is a woodland garden, with its own private broad. Pride of place to goes to the ancient King Oak, a sapling at the time of the Battle of Hastings. There are more than three miles of footpaths, fully accessible to all among the woods, with fabulous views across the broad.
Fairhaven is a woodland garden for all seasons with clumps of snowdrops, early flowering primroses and a special Winter Garden for the winter months, then there are camellias, daffodils, primroses, white wood anemones, bluebells, rhododendrons, azaleas and a fine collection of candelabra primulas in the Spring. Summer sees massed wild flowers and hydrangeas, including a special hydrangea path and in late October and early November there are fabulous autumn colours.
Boat trips run from Fairhaven from April to October, with a fully accessible boat for visitors in wheelchairs. There are short trips around the broad and a longer trip to St Benet's Abbey. The garden has a busy annual events programme with live music and drama in the summer, family events from February half term to Christmas, including an annual Halloween Party, and art exhibitions in the winter.
The garden, tearoom, shop and plant sales are open every day of the year (just closed Christmas day). The tearoom opens at 9.15am and serves breakfast in the morning, along with lunches, afternoon tea and coffee and homemade cake. The garden opens at 10am, closing at 5pm from March to October and 4pm from November to February. Dogs are welcome in the garden on leads.
