We are a volunteer run museum saving and displaying Scarborough's amazing history.
Our exhibitions change several times in a year and we have a huge archive of previous exhibitions and historical information.
We have won awards and are supported by the National Heritage Lottery Fund.

Scarborough is Britain's first seaside resort, 50 years before Brighton. We pioneered bathing machines and cliff lifts.
The harbour was once the fifth largest herring port in the UK and over 400 ships and boats were built on the sand in the 18th & 19th centuries.
Scarborough has important connections with the Titanic and with big game tuna fishing.
Fishing folk had many superstitions and local wives knitted traditional ganseys.

Our volunteers are on hand to talk you through our exhibitions and answer any questions.
Entrance is free and we are open Wednesday to Sunday, from 11am to 4pm.
