Anglesey Sea Zoo

Would you like to know all about British seas and the kind of creatures that live in them? Want to see sharks, seahorses, octopus, lobsters and other exciting and elusive British marine animals up close? Want to learn about captive breeding and research programmes for some of our most endangered British native species? Then this is the place for you!

Based on the shores of the beautiful Menai Strait in an area of outstanding natural beauty, Anglesey Sea Zoo has some of the best views of the Snowdonia Mountain Range. We are unique in the fact that all the species here are native. We aim to showcase the vast variety of British marine life, whilst also investing in conservation and research projects both locally and further afield, our fundamental principles focus on sustainability, recycling and supporting environmental issues. All the seawater used at Anglesey Sea Zoo is drawn directly from the Menai Strait, so the marine life we support here experience natural temperature fluctuations in the water seasonally, as they would do in the wild. This lends itself to natural feeding and breeding patterns, allows stock rotation and release and assists with the long-term goal of re-establishing certain endangered species on our breeding programmes back into the wild.

Here, you can meet amazing invertebrates in the No Bone Zone, see the wolf fish lair and creep through the Seven Sisters shipwreck to spot a conger eel! Learn all about our research and conservation work, including our British seahorse breeding programme and the Lobster Hatchery of Wales. Visit a kelp forest full of huge fish and our moon jellyfish display, talk to expert Marine Biologists, watch a diving display, or join one of our hands on interactive sessions. We have daily interactive talks and feeds, and outside there’s crazy golf, an adventure playground, a giant bouncy castle and slide, and stunning views across the Menai Strait and Snowdonia National Park.

We offer bespoke educational packages including specialised talks, tours, seashore safaris ad beach clean-ups for all ages from pre-school to post-graduate and have discounted group rates for parties of 10+
Enjoy delicious home cooked cakes, snacks, meals and daily specials all made from the best locally sourced produce in our Rockpool Café, before heading to our superb gift shop! Well stocked with a huge range of gifts, souvenirs,
toys, confectionary and local produce, we guarantee there’s something for everyone and non aquarium visitors are always welcome. For more unusual gifts, you can fish for your own pearl from our oysters or arrange an animal adoption, which makes an unforgettable gift and contributes directly towards supporting our conservation work.
