The settlement named Bathurst (after Lord Bathurst) by Governor Macquarie in May 1815 has flourished and in 2015 celebrated its 200th Birthday of European settlement.
But white people weren’t the first inhabitants of the beautiful valley that is now called Bathurst. The Wiradjuri people lived happily in harmony with this land for thousands of years. Today in Bathurst and surrounding areas, you can see, experience and learn much about the close relationship that exists today between the two cultures.
