Saumarez Homestead is a stunning rural property open to visitors to tour through the historic homestead, stunning out-buildings, gardens and grounds. It is a perfect setting for events or just a weekend tour with lunch or morning tea.
10 am - 5 pm every day of the week (except Christmas Day & Good Friday) Guided tours and the café open only on weekends and public holidays. The property is closed for public guided tours for Winter from 15-June until the end of August except for group bookings and functions which are available year round. Saumarez Gardens, Grounds and Farm Area are open during Winter. Entry to interior of homestead by guided tour only (10.30am, 2pm and 3.30pm weekends and public holidays except Christmas Day & Good Friday).
The two storey, 30 room Edwardian mansion is the jewel of Saumarez. Wander through its rooms and the farm buildings to be transported back to 19th century pastoral life. Have a coffee at the cafe to return to your own time.
This ten-hectare grazing property was first inhabited by British settlers led by Henry Dumaresq in the 1830’s. Today it includes an elegant, extensive, fully furnished Edwardian homestead, built between 1888 and 1906, and 15 farm and other buildings dating up to 1910, with their collections of early farm equipment.
Take a guided tour through the White family’s 30 room Edwardian mansion complete with original furnishings. Stroll through Mary White’s garden, with its Jocelyn Brown-style cottage garden, the picking garden, the heritage rose garden and the lawns. Visit outbuildings complete with 19th century tools and equipment. Allow at least half a day to see this extensive property, and experience 19th century pastoral life.
