Āio Accommodation (Āio - Maori for to be calm and at peace).
Āio Accommodation is situated in the beautiful Bay of Islands 3 hours drive from Auckland or 15 minutes from Kerikeri airport. The Bay of Islands provides a wonderful array of activities to enjoy during your visit, enough to consider a stay of several days. Visitors have often remarked that they didn’t know there was so much to do and wished they had booked for longer. After a busy day enjoying the wide range of activities relax at Āio and enjoy the calm and peace this self-contained studio offers. Āio is a self contained studio for two people with either self-catering or breakfast provided. Then wake next morning to the beautiful sunrise over the Bay or the mist rising off the Waitangi river. Hear the cheeky sounds of tuis , see the Piwakawaka (fantails) restlessly flitting from branch to branch inquisitively watching you. Enjoy the activity on the river and across the Bay with kayaks, yachts, launches and waka . At night be awed by the clarity of the night sky and the myriads of stars in the milky way.

Situated 4 kms from Paihia and 19 kms from Kerikeri , Aio provides a self contained studio with a very comfortable queen sized bed, private bathroom, kitchenette, separate deck. Tea and coffee is provided . Multi channeled TV is available plus DVD and sound system. If requested a breakfast tray will be supplied with a focus on local produce, and offering fruit, cereals, breads, spreads, juice and tea and coffee. You can make your breakfast at your leisure. The unit sleeps two but there is a pull down sofa bed in the studio which also sleeps two. If you have an infant, a portacot and high chair are available for use. Children are welcome. An small extra cost of $10 per child will be charged. The unit is solar powered and offers a charging point for an electric car.

Plan your day of activities from a stroll around the Waitangi Treaty grounds, to a parasail over the bay, a swim with dolphins, a game of golf on one of New Zealand’s most beautiful golf courses or a bus trip to Te Rerenga Wairua (Cape Reinga), a visit to Kawiti glow worm caves, hire a cycle and ride the cycle trails or mountain bike park.. The options are endless and there is something to suit every interest.
