There are two main exhibition themes; Icelandic fauna with emphasis on birds and molluscs, and geology of Iceland with emphasis on rocks and minerals. On display are also mammals, fish, crustaceans, echinoderms, as well as live animals and plants in small aquariums. The Natural History Museum of Kopavogur is situated in the Cultural Centre of Kopavogur, next to Art Museum, Gerðarsafn and Salurinn, Concert Hall. It is housed on the first floor in the Kopavogurs‘s main museum building along with the public library.
