Bantam Cinema

Opened in 1927, Bantam Cinema is Connecticut's oldest continually operated movie theater. We specialize in foreign and independent films, along with the best of Hollywood. We often show award-winning documentaries with in-person appearances by the filmmakers and by people involved the story depicted. For instance, a recent documentary on the Boston Marathon bombings was followed by a Q&A with three survivors of the the attack.

We also host talks by actors, writers and directors who discuss their movies with the audience. Daniel Day-Lewis, Joan Rivers, Mia Farrow, Rebecca Miller, Campbell Scott, William Styron, Dolores Hart, Arthur Miller, Liza Minnelli and Maureen Stapleton are among the filmmakers who have participated.
