Sunset Meadow Vineyards is a 50+ acre family owned and operated vineyard and winery located in the picturesque Litchfield Hills. Farmland for generations, the tradition continued when the land was purchased by the Motel family in the late 1990’s. First with cattle, now with vineyards, the Motel family prides themselves with continuing the farming tradition this area is known for. Our now 35+ acres of vines (and growing) produces internationally awarded estate wines for your tasting pleasure. Situated between Mt Tom and Mohawk Mountain, Sunset Meadow Vineyards offers some of the best views of the Northwest Corner. And because our tasting room and outdoor patio are westerly facing, our sunsets are spectacular! Enjoy a glass of wine or share a bottle with friends while bringing your own picnic to enjoy the views. Our grounds are spread with trees and picnic tables for your enjoyment, and our patio and fire pit make the experience complete.
A UC Davis certified Enologist, owner and winemaker George and Judy Motel, along with their son, George IV, take pride in offering you the “fruits” of their labor. Existing in the perfect microclimate for growing grapes in this region, Sunset Meadow Vineyards’ 50+ acres include 35+ acres (and growing) of sustainably farmed vineyards. From our state-of-the-art production room to the restored 1890’s German bank-barn tasting room, you are sure to enjoy the experience set forth. Since our winery opened to the public in 2008 our wines have been awarded over 25 International and Domestic gold, silver and bronze medals. Our current wine selection include our Chardonnay, Riesling, St Croix, as well Cayuga White, Vidal Blanc, Blustery Blend, Sunset Blush, Merlot, New Dawn, Rose’, Twisted Red and our newest award winning dessert wine Pyrrha’s Passion. Last summer we introduced our first vintage of Ice Wine, Midnight Ice. This luscious, tropical tasting wine is harvested by hand in the dead of winter using only the sweetest frozen grapes to produce this rare dessert wine. We are proud to announce that Sunset Meadow Vineyards has been awarded YANKEE MAGAZINE’S BEST FAMILY WINERY and CT MAGAZINE VOTED BEST WINE. We would love for you to experience our hospitality and true appreciation of wine. Just 2 hours from New York City or Boston, and an hour or so from anywhere in the Berkshires to the CT shoreline, we look forward to seeing you visit our tasting room which is open weekends (Fri-Sun) year round from 11 – 5, with additional hours May – December of Sunday, Monday, Thursday 11 – 5, and Friday and Saturday 11 – 6.
Our Vista Room is available for private parties and events for up to 26. Our vineyards and meadows are also available for wedding and party rental.
