The White Memorial Conservation Center is the heart of Connecticut's largest Wildlife Sanctuary. 4,000 acres of diverse habitats await you. 40 miles of trails traversing an plethora of flora and fauna will delight your senses and restore your soul! Enjoy one of our compelling weekend programs, take a guided walk, enjoy the peace of mind one only finds within the quiet of nature. Cross country ski, snowshoe, hike, fish, canoe, bird watch and more! We also have a number of buildings and dorms and out-of-door spaces available for family gatherings, weddings, corporate events. We have two beautiful camping areas, Point Folly and Windmill Hill.
The White Memorial Conservation Center located in Litchfield, CT houses one of New England's finest state-of-the-art Nature Museums. See a life-sized beaver lodge, learn about alternative energy, touch real animal fur, and test your bird identification skills, visit a fluorescent rock cave, and view nature through a digital macro-scope! Explore the Children’s Corner: books, puzzles, stuffed animals, and so much more!

After you visit the museum, get outside! Enjoy beauty of this exquisite wildlife sanctuary, take a walk, or run, take a nap in the shade of a tree! View Connecticut's largest natural lake, the Bantam. Walk around the sparkling Little Pond's 1.6 mile boardwalk or enjoy a picnic lunch on one of the picnic tables scattered around the museum grounds. History buffs! Got a smartphone with a QR scanner? Investigate the relics of one of New England's ice houses. The Icehouse trail's 8 QR code stops will provide the back story of this once, oh so important, resource.
