Brotherhood, Americas Oldest Winery

Brotherhood remains the oldest winery in America, continuously operating in Washingtonville, NY, from 1839 to today, even throughout Prohibition. The winery began as a small, family-run operation producing wines primarily for Sacramental and medicinal purposes. It survived the Civil War, two World Wars and post-Prohibition laws that changed the alcohol industry following the repeal—a true testament to the winery’s deep roots and strength.

A community winery, Brotherhood acts as the “piazza” of Washingtonville and its surrounding areas. A home to festivals, fairs and events that attract thousands of people each year, the winery stands as a significant source of employment for local residents and continues to grow tourism within the Hudson Valley region.
Brotherhood is one of the largest producers of wine in the state of New York for its own production and private label contracting, and celebrates over 175 years of existence.

Take a stroll through history at Brotherhood Winery while exploring the oldest, continuously operating winery in America and its original stone cellars. Brotherhood, while beautifully renovated over the past ten years, has maintained its old-world charm, a hideaway nestled in the Hudson Valley. After your guided tour, enjoy a tasting from your choice of several wine flights, visit the gift shop, or enjoy lunch/dinner at the onsite Vinum Café!

Brotherhood Winery is also a perfect event location, hosting weddings and corporate events in the Grand Monarque Hall.

Open year-round: April-December: Sunday-Friday 11:00-5:00, Saturday 11:00-7:00 January to March: Friday-Sunday 11:00-5:00
