Orchard Hill Cider Mill is located at Soons Orchards, one hour north of New York City in New Hampton, New York. Our Tasting Room (open 12–6 p.m. every day; Saturdays from 11–9 p.m.) offers tastings and sales of our artisanal hard ciders, as well as the best of New York State craft beer, wine, spirits, and liqueurs. We are a multi-season destination, offering tastings, tours and events March through December. Orchard Hill Cider Mill hosts “Speakeasy” on Saturday evenings from 5–9 p.m. in our new event space and bar with live jazz, craft cocktails, and farm to table lite bites. We also host Live it/LIVE starring NYC singer Ellen Kaye, with Ethan Fein on guitar.

Orchard Hill Hard Ciders express the apples they are made from, the land those apples are grown on, and our devotion to quality. Our mission to revive the tradition of authentic farm-based cider production began to be realized by partnering with Soons Orchards. This partnership expands the orchards’ 105-year history of apple growing expertise to include cider. We at Orchard Hill believe in quality over quantity, and we first and foremost make cider we like to drink. Therefore, we focus on food friendly, drier styles that look to the great cider traditions of France, Spain and the West Country of England for inspiration while primarily being guided by our fruit to make quintessentially New York State cider. Using traditional fermentation and distilling methods, our products are made with a minimum of intervention, and never contain concentrates or artificial flavorings of any kind. While traditional and purist in our outlook we also look to innovate so don’t be surprised to find bottlings that pleasantly surprise. For example, our Hudson Valley produced Ten66 is highly acclaimed and breaks new ground by offering a serious look at “Pommeau” a traditional Norman/French aperitif.

At the Orchard Hill Tasting Room, we believe in hospitality and provide all of our guests a comfortable and gracious welcome. Upon arrival you will find a one-of-a-kind selection of carefully curated, small batch, artisanal NY State cider, beer, wine, and spirits as well as a thoughtfully programmed series of educational events and special evenings of food, libations and entertainment hosted by mixologist Donnan Sutherland. Our menus offer a locavore approach, which utilizes the expertise of our executive chef, Shawn Hubbell, trained at The Culinary Institute of America, to make optimal use of the bounty of the Hudson Valley. Our food-friendly ciders really shine when enjoyed with expertly prepared local foods, especially while relaxing in our newly expanded cidery. Our inviting and comfortable event space is in sync with our approach to cider making; utilizing classic salvaged architectural details from the surrounding area and wood surfaces harvested from the orchard to create a harmonious environment.

Soons Orchards was founded circa 1910 by William Soons, an electrical engineer living and working in New York City. The orchard and farm boasts over 70 varieties of apples and peaches, as well as corn, squash, peppers, pumpkins, and more. These items can be found seasonally in Soons Farm Store along with the best fresh sweet cider, homemade cider donuts, fudge, Scotty's homemade pies and pastries, local cheese, eggs, and meats. Soons hosts monthly farm to table dinners with resident Culinary Institute of America graduate, Chef Shawn Hubbell. Soons has U-Pick apples during the fall, as well as hayrides to the pumpkin patch to pick your own pumpkin.
We are a multi-season destination, offering tastings, tours and events March through December. Spring and summer visits to the orchard are just as exciting as the fall high-season visits with the traditional harvest activities. We look forward to welcoming you.
