Located on one of the most beautiful lakes in the Pocono Mountains of Northeastern Pennsylvania, Keen Lake is an award-winning, Guest Review A rated and Trip Advisor Excellence Honoree destination resort. Family owned and family friendly, this fun-centered resort on a 90-acre spring-fed mountain lake has been host to camping and cottage guests for over 60 years. Owners, Keen sisters--Janet, Jennifer, Jane, and Jim Ann-- believe passionately in the values family camping offers. "Anytime a family is together is cause for celebration."
Keen Lake cottages are clean, cozy, comfortably appointed and unique. They offer a charming alternative to impersonal hotels and the RV rentals make great vacation homes, too! Lakefront rentals include the cottage on Hermit Island--a 3 bedroom unit on a private wooded 4-acre island; the School House Cottage--a former one-room schoolhouse circa 1846 and two-bedroom units--the Primrose, Laurel, and cozy Yellow cottage. Rounding out the offerings are the Hearth and the Haven-two unit duplex with private access to lake; the Meadows--a three-bedroom three bath unit; the Pre-Civil War Barn--a three-bedroom apartment with great lake views; the Colonial Home, the Morning Glory and a variety of RV rentals.
Most units have two bedrooms, one bath and accommodate from four to eight persons. Each unit has AC and is furnished with dishes, cookware, small appliances, flat screen TV (basic cable) and DVD player. Blankets and pillows are provided. Guests bring pillowcases, sheets, bath-, kitchen-, and beach-towels. Lawn chairs, picnic table, fire ring, and propane grills are provided. Many of the units are pet friendly.
Camp in the style you most enjoy. Camp under the stars in a cozy tent or camp along the water’s edge in a water/electric pop up site. Full hook up sites with (20/30/50 amp), sewer and cable are also available throughout the property. All sites have fire rings and picnic tables. Wi-Fi is available on the grounds.
Highlights of the resort's award winning activity and entertainment program include ceramics, magicians, ventriloquists, musicians and DJs, talent shows, tournaments, treasure hunts, cooking classes, movies, and so much more. There are a variety of fun-equipped play areas for all ages to enjoy-- sports fields and playgrounds, traditional, hill and spiral slides, shuffleboard, bocce ball, horseshoe pits, and a children's garden replete with visits from the Fairy Gardenmother.
There are four bath houses on the property as well as a laundry, gift shop, cooking pavilion for group gatherings, snack bar, and camping store.
Keen Lake is a popular spot for both novice and experienced anglers. Lake fish include pan fish, small and large mouth bass, perch and pickerel. A PA fishing license is required for all fisher persons ages 16 and over. Swimmers can enjoy a refreshing dip in the lake or pool (solar heated) and there is a dedicated beach for your pets to swim, too!
Keen Lake offers guest’s a wide variety of boating experiences. Their livery includes rowboats, aqua cycles, kayaks, canoes, and paddleboards.
There is plenty in the local area to interest guests---of historic import are the Lackawanna Coal Mine Tours, Steamtown National Historic Park and Museum, the Dorflinger Glass Museum, and Historic Honesdale, the birthplace of the American Railroad. Music festivals are quite popular with venues as Honesdale’s Roots and Rythmn Music and Arts Festival, Waymart’s mid-summer Waystock festival, the Honesdale Concerts in the Park series, and the many offerings at Montage Mountain and Bethel Woods. There is horseback riding, hiking trails, farm to table food and antiquing experiences, and unique attractions as a Drive-in theater and open amphitheater at the Dorflinger-Sudyam Wildlife Sanctuary.
