The Cedar Manor Hotel and Restaurant is a distinctive country-house hotel with a boutique design and ambiance in the heart of the Lake District. It’s owned and managed by Jonathan and Caroline Kaye who will welcome you personally, and make sure that your stay is perfect.
This is the height of luxury, with ten individually designed bedrooms, including the award-winning Coach House suite. This offers the ultimate in seclusion and privacy, and is often chosen for romantic occasions and honeymoons. Many of the guests at the hotel are couples seeking a quality time or romantic break and most of the rooms are designed accordingly.
On arrival you will be welcomed in the blue lounge which replaces the traditional, impersonal check-in desk. It’s a stylish and designer-decorated room which features a mock-library wallpaper decorated with Lakeland-title bookends, and chandelier made from recycled Bombay-Sapphire gin bottles. Here you will also find some exquisite samples of locally made jewellery and art for sale.
The restaurant (AA two-rosettes) is open to non-residents and features modern English cuisine with a Cumbrian influence, using locally sourced produce, on a menu that changes with the seasons.
Outside under the eponymous Cedar tree is a delightful patio area for evening drinks or afternoon tea, but beyond the gates you have easy access to England’s biggest lake, and some of the finest walking in the country.
The hotel has won many awards recently including best small hotel national and international, Considerate Hoteliers awards 2015; Cumbria Tourism best small hotel 2014; and in 2015 runner-up in the Visit England excellence awards. Cedar Manor was recently voted no. 5 in the top 25 romantic hotels in the UK (TripAdvisor Travellers Choice for Romance 2016).
